Resorts

Over the past few years I’ve been travelling along Britain’s shoreline photographing seaside resorts. I focus not on holidaymakers, but on the artefacts that have become signifiers of holidays at the beach in the UK.

The seaside seems to change at a much slower pace than the rest of our cultural landscape, offering the illusion of escape or a return to simpler times, as if preserving our past memories. But this contrast only seems to highlight the passage of time, resulting in an often melancholy, doleful sense of nostalgia.
